Ownboard Carbon AT VS Backfire Ranger X2: The Off-Road Battle
As industry leaders and pioneers in the off-road electric skateboard market, Ownboard and Backfire have released electric longboards that are going head to head for the best dirt boarder. With various attributes from both ends, here’s a comparison of the Ownboard Carbon AT and the Backfire Ranger X2, to help to determine, which one is the best for you.
For the urban commuter…
As far as commuting in cities goes, the Backfire Ranger X2 provides a longer range for those looking to get to work on time and also living in potentially volatile climate areas like the North. With electric skateboarding becoming increasingly popular in northern states such as Illinois, Minnesota, New York and Michigan, you're going to want to ensure your board is not only water resistant (not waterproof), and also capable of handling sleet and light snow come winter months. The Backfire longboard is also a great board for students and campus commuters looking for a trendy and sustainable form of electric transportation to beat the early mornings. It comes with the lighting on the front of the board as well, making it perfect to stay visible in urban and not so urban environments.
For the off roader…
From an off-road standpoint, the Carbon AT may have squeaked by in terms of a comfortable ride with its excellent board decking and higher top speed. From adventurers, electric boarding extremists and countryside lovers, the Carbon AT Electric Longboard is in our opinion the ideal companion to take with you if you're going to test the limits of your off-road riding skills. It’s flexibility as well as the dual belt power provides excellent all-all-terrain resistance.

Summary
As the specs suggest, the Carbon AT off road longboard is at a general advantage with a 1500 Watt dual belt engine and sits at $200 cheaper (SALE Price). However the Backfire electric longboard does have a longer range, whilst tire durability features thickening 6.5" All-Terrain Honeycomb Airless Tires, compared to the Carbon AT’s air filled silicon tires. The Carbon tires are definitely more prone to punctures over sharp rocks when off-road than the Backfire Ranger X2 due to a harder material. However when it comes to board flexibility the Ownboard electric longboard is second to none. The Carbon AT board deck is made from the highest grade 40 inch carbon fibre material and can withstand power slides and aggressive bumps in the road.
